Upgrading My Main PC: From M2 Pro MacBook Pro to M5 MacBook Pro
Hello, this is Ito. I picked up a new MacBook during Apple’s New Year sale.
The model I chose is the M5 MacBook Pro, customized with 24GB of memory instead of the standard 16GB.
The biggest reason for this purchase was simple: photo editing had become painfully slow.
For most other tasks, my previous machine worked just fine. However, Lightroom performance was just too sluggish, and I finally lost my patience and decided to upgrade. Aside from that, I honestly didn’t have many complaints.
In conclusion — it was absolutely the right decision.
With 24GB of memory, I have zero complaints when editing images from the Sony α7C II. It feels like the sweet spot for my workflow.
I also feel that the M5 chip itself contributes significantly to faster processing times during photo development. I’ll go into more detail about that in a separate post.
For reference, I’ve included the benchmark scores below as well.
